Game shots donate birds to food banks

Generous Guns all over the country are donating birds to food banks, homeless shelters and lunch clubs for the elderly this year, as part of the ‘Game Share’ initiative.

1,300 grouse have already been donated, according to the Telegraph, and will be distributed through the charity FareShare. Large estates such as Belvoir, which offers pheasant, partridge and duck shooting, have also signed up to the scheme.

Between October 2014 to September 2015, FareShare organised the redistribution of food to 2,135 charities and community groups across the UK. These organisations turned the food into 16.6 million meals for homeless hostels, soup kitchens and community centres.  To find out more, visit www.fareshare.org.uk
