Help clean your local beach this October

Autumn Beach Clean Series Digital - Headline ImageFed up with seeing litter on your local beach? Volunteer this October to help clean more than 15 tonnes of litter from across the UK coastline.

The 6th Annual Autumn Beach Clean Series, run by Surfers Against Sewage in association with The Crown Estate and the Greggs Foundation, is currently calling for 200 lead volunteers to manage the beach cleans. These leads will provide opportunities for more than 4,500 people to help clean up beaches during the event, which takes place between 24th – 30th October.

Litter in marine environments has a negative effect on wildlife, human health and local economies. Studies suggest there may be up to 3,000 items of litter per kilometre of beach in the UK, with trillions more pieces floating around in the ocean.
